Apprenticeship — Trixie Little

Dear Artists,

You're invited to apply to learn the ropes of the irreverent cabaret arts! Apprentices will do on-stage and behind-the-scenes work for my new troupe, The Nesticles, which will be the resident sexy-comedic-circus-dance ensemble at my studio, The Nest in Nevada City, CA. I am offering an apprenticeship lasting through the end of 2022 to 3-4 aspiring professional stage performers interested in learning and/or deepening their understanding of cabaret as a provocative performance art. We will be developing my theatrical, comedic, burlesque, circus, puppet and dance acts for in-house and in-town shows. In classic circus tradition, apprentices will be involved in every aspect of show production, including costuming, prop/set building, rigging, workshopping, choreographing, selling concessions/merch, marketing and on-going skill development.

Time commitment is TBD but at least 8-10 hours/week average.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a prolific, professional, relentlessly creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is creating outrageous work. Being of service to the culture with your art is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. This isn't for posers, complainers or half-steppers. I want real deal artistic weirdos who are serious about making fun happen in the world, and who cheerfully show up ready to rock, already packing heat with talents and skills.

Artists hailing from the Maryland-Virginia-Pennsylvania-DC area who travel back east a few times a year are ESPECIALLY encouraged to apply, as I do shows there too.

About Me-- I'm Trixie Little.

I've got 25+ years experience and training in alternative, underground performance-- from synchronized swimming shows in Baltimore public parks, to attending circus school in my 30s, to traveling the world flipping and stripping with my ex-husband who dressed up like a monkey, tempered by 10 years in New York City nightlife and winner of the biggest award in the burlesque industry-- Miss Exotic World, Queen of Burlesque. I'm a true artist in every sense and have dedicated my life to inspiring others to be free with my sexy, delightful, absurd, surprising, boundary-pushing ideas and images on the stage, page and screen.
